Our group is affiliated with two graduate schools of the University of Tokyo: Department of Information and Communication Engineering, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology and Emerging Design and Informatics Course, Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies. For more information on admission, please visit our department pages, or contact Yoichi Sato.
For our recent research topics, please refer to recent publications of Sato/Sugano Laboratory.
Our laboratory, in collaboration with the Sugano Laboratory, is carrying out a project under the JST ASPIRE program titled “Establishing an international collaborative research network on human-centered vision and media technologies” (February 2024 – March 2029). This project is being conducted in partnership with the University of Tokyo, the National Institute of Informatics, the University of Bristol (UK), Carnegie Mellon University (USA), and the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands).
Our laboratory is conducting the project “BioSkillDX: Unlocking Tacit Knowledge for Experimental Work Support in Life Sciences” (August 2025 – July 2030), funded by the Key and Advanced Technology R&D through Cross Community Collaboration Program (K Program).
This project aims to contribute to the efficient accumulation and transfer of experimental know-how in life science research and development settings. To this end, we are working on the construction of a large-scale dataset of life science experimental procedures, as well as the development of AI technologies for acquiring tacit knowledge related to experimental work.
